Review of Linux Compatibility

The Belkin N600 DB (product ID F9L1101) is a dual band WiFi (802.11n) stick. The F9L1101 exists in two different version using different chipsets. Unfortunately, both chipsets are poorly supported under Linux:

V1: 050d:615a

The first version has the USB ID 050d:615a:

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 050d:615a Belkin Components F7D4101 / F9L1101 802.11abgn Wireless Adapter [Broadcom BCM4323]

and bases on the Broadcom BCM4323 chipset. This version can be identified by the inprint “F91101v1″ on its back side. Sometimes this version has the inprint “F7D4101 v1″ instead. No Linux driver is currently available for this chipet. Alternatively, on can use this stick together with Ndiswrapper and the original Windows driver (see description for using the Windows driver with Ndiswrapper under Linux to work with the N600 DB.)

V2: 050d:110a

The version V2 has the USB ID 050d:110a

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 050d:110a Belkin Components

This version uses the Realtek RTL8192DU chipset. Until now there is no Linux dirver in the standard kernel for this chipset. Hence, the original Realtek driver needs to be installed per hand or the kernel module rtl8192du can be used.
